Accessibility

What we aim for

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA. We have not had the site formally audited, so we do not claim it conforms.

What is built in

  • Everything works with a keyboard, with a visible focus outline, and a skip link to the main content.
  • Every reading on the drawings has a matching labelled button or link, so you never have to use the drawing itself.
  • The leak finder uses standard radio buttons in labelled groups, moves focus to each new question, and tells you if you have not chosen an answer.
  • Text and controls are checked for colour contrast, and the site works if you turn off animation in your device settings.
  • Pages reflow on small screens and when text is enlarged.

Known limits

  • The drawings show where pipes run. Their text descriptions summarise them but do not describe every line.
  • We have not yet tested with every combination of screen reader and browser.
